Introduction to Damascene (10am-3pm)

Ages 16+

4 Days

Learn the exciting Korean process of Damascene also known as Poamock Ssanggum and Jjoeum Ipsa. This Damascene technique offers the richness of black iron (mild steel) in combination with the inlay of wire and foil of both 24K Gold and Fine Silver. The chiseled surface, developed in a crosshatching pattern creates a dynamic textural surface that also functions as a connecting system for inlaying the design elements of thin foil and wire. The inlaid design visually activates the chiseled surface both in texture and powerful color contrast with your overall design. It will be set into place with cold joining using bezel walls, prongs, or rivets with silver, copper, brass, bronze, and gold.
