WC02 Drawing a Narrative in Clay by Molly A. Bishop

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday February 15

10:00 AM  –  5:00 PM

All levels 1 day

This hands-on workshop will focus on telling visual stories using clay as our canvas. Explore how a sketchbook practice can inform your ceramic artwork. Anyone can draw; we will warm up with creative exercises and get comfortable with the drawing process to generate ideas. Pulling from our own personal experiences, let's explore how to tell visual stories on paper, and then translate these images to ceramic plates using sgraffito and underglazes. Please see Molly Anne Bishop’s work in Tea and Cookies: 17th Biennial Teapot Exhibition.

Born and raised in Virginia, Molly Anne Bishop graduated from the VCU craft/material studies program in 2012. Working mostly in clay, she finds inspiration from time in nature and the mundanity of everyday life. She has been a resident artist at Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana, Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece, c.r.e.t.a. in Rome, and the International Studio in Jingdezhen, China.
